ESPY Award Nominations Are Unveiled

LAS VEGAS (AP) - Michael Jordan and Mark McGwire are among five athletes nominated for the Male Athlete of the Decade award at the ESPYs Feb. 14.

Joining them are Pete Sampras, Jerry Rice and Mario Lemieux.

The nominees for Female Athlete of the Decade are Steffi Graf, Chamique Holdsclaw, Mia Hamm and Bonnie Blair.

The Chicago Bulls, New York Yankees, Detroit Red Wings and Dallas Cowboys are the nominees for Pro Team of the Decade, while Phil Jackson, Joe Torre, Scotty Bowman and Pat Summitt are the nominees for Coach-Manager of the Decade.

The nominees for the 1999 honors are Tiger Woods, Pedro Martinez and Tim Duncan for Male Athlete of the Year, and Hamm, Karrie Webb and Marion Jones for Female Athlete of the Year. The team nominees are the Yankees, the U.S. Ryder Cup team, the Women's World Cup team and the Florida State football team, while the Coach of the Year nominees are Torre, Bobby Bowden and Jim Calhoun.
