Mark McGwire Donates Jersey - (FARGO) -- The man who broke Roger Maris' home run mark donates an autographed game jersey to the annual Roger Maris Celebrity Golf Tournament in Fargo. The tourney is named after the man who broke Babe Ruth's home run mark in 1961 with 61... and was outdone by Cardinal's slugger Mark McGwire, who blasted 70 homers last season. The tournament is meant as a fundraiser for cancer research, the disease that took Maris' life in the 1980's. More than 300 items, including McGwire's jersey, were auctioned-off yesterday. Last year's event raised more than 17-thousand-dollars.
